If you use Google's email platform Gmail, then this information is going to prove very useful for you. Have you noticed the CC and BCC options with To before sending mail? Many of you must be using the CC option with To. But many people are not aware of these two options available for sending mail in Gmail. In this article, we are talking about both these options, when which option is used, and what they mean.

What is the meaning of CC-BCC in Gmail?

CC means Carbon Copy.
CC means Carbon Copy - While drafting a mail, when apart from sending the same mail to one or two main persons, other people also have to be informed about this message, then mail addresses are added in CC.

It is important to mention here that when email addresses are added in CC, then the emails with CC and To also have information about each other, to whom the mail has been sent.

BCC i.e. Blind Carbon Copy
BCC i.e. Blind Carbon Copy- While drafting a mail, when there is a need to send the same information or mail to other people, then these emails can be added to BCC. The people with email addresses added in BCC know who has been kept in To and CC for the mail. But, the people in To and CC do not know that this mail has been sent to someone else with the BCC option.

Why is CC and BCC needed?

The question is that when the To option is available, then why are CC and BCC needed? CC and BCC are needed because sending the same mail or message to different people separately can be a time and effort-consuming task. At the same time, CC and BCC options are useful in sending the same mail to many people at once. You can use both options according to the situation, at your convenience.

Sometimes, apart from sending a message to a main recipient, other people are only aware that the mail has been sent, even then the CC or BCC option is useful. The BCC option is useful in a situation where privacy is maintained.
