In today's digital world, we all have a bank account, which saves your online transactions and savings. Many people keep a joint account with their spouse, but many times such situations arise in life, due to which you need to remove your name from the joint account, if you are also in such a situation, then know its process-

How to remove a name from a joint bank account

Get the required form.

The first step is to get the required form to remove the name from the joint account. You can get this form at your bank branch or download it directly from the bank's official website.

Fill the form

Account number and account type (eg, savings, current)

Name of the account holder whose name you want to remove.

If the person being removed is a minor, you will also have to provide the name of the minor's guardian.

Signatures Required

The form must be signed by both the remaining account holders and the person whose name is being removed. Make sure both signatures are included to avoid any delays.

Update Mode of Operation (Optional)

When deleting a name, you can also choose to update the mode of operation of the account.

Return of Debit Card

When deleting a joint account holder, the account holder whose name is being removed must return the debit card (ATM card) issued to the bank. If the card is lost, destroyed, or otherwise unavailable, the same must be reported to the bank.

Apply for a New Check Book

If necessary, you can apply for a new checkbook with the updated account details in the new name(s). However, you must return any unused checks from the old check book to the bank.
