Ms Dhoni’s New Big Investment: In recent years, several new startups have emerged in India, and many of them have quickly become unicorns. Entrepreneurs are coming up with fresh ideas that are not only succeeding but also transforming daily life for many people. Business tycoons and celebrities are now investing in or funding these startups, recognizing their rapid success. Indian cricket legend MS Dhoni has also invested in several businesses, and recently, he invested in a Bengaluru-based startup called KhataBook. It was launched in 2018 by founders Ashish Soni, Dhanesh Kumar, Vaibhav Kalpe, Jaideep Poonia, and Ravish Naresh.
KhataBook, a Bengaluru-based startup, is a platform that helps small entrepreneurs and shopkeepers owners to manage their financial transactions online. Khatabook helped several people and moved them from traditional bookkeeping methods to more efficient digital solutions.
Operated by Kyte Technologies, it allows shopkeepers to keep track of the payments they receive from their customers. interestingly, it is a free-to-use app and ensures secure transactions.
Ravish Naresh, who is the CEO of Khatabook, hails from Bengaluru and studied at IIT Bombay. Previously, he was the co-founder and COO of Housing.com.
The story that Business Outreach tells of Ravish and his team is a fascinating one. They noticed the rise in digital payment usage among Indian citizens, but recognized that many still preferred handling their finances the old-fashioned way. This sparked an idea – they set out to create a tool that made managing online expenses a breeze. The result? The invention of the KhataBook app.
Since its inception, KhataBook has attracted several investors, including former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni. By 2023, the company’s valuation had soared to Rs 4,500 crore.
