Great news for commuters travelling between Delhi and Mumbai as the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Link Road (DND-KMP Expressway) was thrown open for traffic on Friday. Officials said 24 kilometers of the DND-KMP Expressway have been opened for traffic on trial basis for four days till November 12, when it will be properly inaugurated and then completely opened for the movement of vehicles.
As soon as the section from Delhi’s Mithapur to Sector-65 on the 59 km-long DND KMP Expressway, which has been built from DND flyover to Sohna, was opened for traffic, vehicle started plying on the expressway at high-speed at the top speed for cars has been fixed at 100 kmph.
According to officials, barricades on all the entry and exit points were removed at 6 PM on Friday evening, opened the path for vehicles to head from the service road onto the main road, which is now open for traffic on a trial basis, till November 12.
As per NHAI officials, six entry and exit points are currently open for vehicles, near Sector 65, near Sector 2, near Sector 8, near Sector 14, near Sector 17 and near Sector 30 Police Line. Commuters can use these entry-exit point to head onto the main road and enjoy high-speed travel on the expressway.
The speed-limit for small cars on DND–Faridabad–KMP Expressway has been fixed at 100 kmph, while the speed-limit for goods vehicles, such as trucks, etc, has been set at 80 kmph, making it a fast option for travelers.
“People can now head onto the main road from the service road and enjoy a smooth and fast journey,” NHAI Project Director Dheeraj Singh said, while informing that the traffic on the link road has been started on a trial basis and the section has not been formally inaugurated.
The 59 km-long DND–Faridabad–KMP Expressway, a 6-lane wide access-controlled expressway, formally called NH-148NA , connects junction of DND Flyway and Ring Road at Maharani Bagh in Delhi with KMP Expressway at Khalilpur, Nuh district in Haryana.
