Royal Enfield has just taken the wraps off its all-new Classic 650 at the EICMA 2024 show in Milan. The model had been spied on multiple occasions in the previous months. The bookings for the model are slated to commence from January 2025 in India. As you’d expect, the model takes its design cues from the top-selling model in the company’s lineup, the Classic 350. However, it isn’t entirely the same. Here, let’s take a look at what’s on offer.

Royal Enfield Classic 650: Design

Drawing heavily on the Classic 350’s looks, the Classic 650 retains its iconic elements like its signature round headlamp, teardrop fuel tank, which make it instantly recognizable. However, to make it look bulkier and distinct, it now features a larger fuel tank (14.8-litre), larger rear fenders and dual exhaust system like the rest of its parallel-twin siblings. It will be available in four colour options namely, Teal, Vallam Red, Bruntingthorpe Blue, and Black Chrome. The new Classic 650 shares its mainframe with the Super Meteor and Shotgun 650, featuring dual seats with an optional bolt-on removable pillion seat.

The Classic 650 is powered by the familiar 648cc, air/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine, delivering 47 hp and 52.3 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. This engine has been borrowed from the Super Meteor and Shotgun models.
The feature list brings in some modern-day essentials, including a semi-digital console with Royal Enfield’s Tripper navigation, full-LED lighting, a USB charging port, and dual-channel ABS.
For suspension duties, the Classic 650 employs 43mm Showa telescopic forks up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Stopping power comes from disc brakes on both wheels. The motorcycle rides on wire-spoke wheels: 19 inches at the front and 18 inches at the back. With a seat height of 800 mm and a ground clearance of 154 mm, the Classic 650 sits on the heavier side at 243 kg, making it the heaviest motorcycle in Royal Enfield’s lineup
