Amid the ongoing negativity in the K-pop industry as well as community, SEVENTEEN's Seungkwan penned a heartfelt letter in which he wished for people to stop hurting each other. The singer also talked about the pressures of being a K-pop idol and asked everyone to be a little kinder.

SEVENTEEN's Seungkwan speaks upTaking to Instagram, Seungkwan penned an honest post in which he expressed his pent-up feelings. "Being a celebrity is a career I chose, and though it means receiving a lot of love and enduring certain hardships, I don’t think it should be a profession where you have to endure getting hurt to the point of self-destruction," the Dandelion singer wrote, before adding, "The weight and pressure, physical and emotional exhaustion, it is more immense than words can express."

Further addressing the pressures faced by K-pop idols, the SEVENTEEN member wrote, "Some look at this rationally, some smile positively and others, though struggling, go along with it and somehow manage to endure. I chose this path, so I must bear it. Because I chose this path, I am supposed to bear the weight of it, but today, that reason feels so merciless and harsh." ALSO READ: Seungkwan then went on to request netizens to show a bit of mercy towards idols, writing, "We are not people who have taken this path lightly, nor are we here to be casually judged. We’ve endured pain, fallen apart and somehow managed to overcome it, all to show our fans the best on stage. These are people who relentlessly push forward. I wish people wouldn’t take idols so lightly."The singer also emphasised that no one has the right to easily involve themselves in the lives of any K-pop idol. "We are not your commodities. I hope you don't think you can just use and enjoy us however you like," he stated.
