• Lewis Bake Shop bread sold at Walmart, Kroger and other retailers was recalled.
  • The bread has undeclared hazelnuts, which may cause severe allergic reactions.
  • Affected loaves have a 07/13/2025 expiration; check your kitchen, and return or discard if found.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced a recall on artisan-style bread sold at Walmart, Kroger and other grocery stores. This is due to an undeclared allergen.

The bread impacted is 12-ounce packages of “Lewis Bake Shop Artisan Style ½ Loaf” with UPC 24126018152 and one of the following lot codes: T10 174010206, T10 174010306, T10 174010406, T10 174020206, T10 174020306 or T10 174020406. They also have a printed expiration date of “07/13/2025,” so the bread may still be in consumers’ kitchens, refrigerators or freezers.

According to Walmart’s website, the affected loaves were sold in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee and Wisconsin. Check your kitchen for this product, and if you have it on hand, dispose of it or return to your place of purchase for a potential refund.

The recalled bread may contain hazelnuts, an undeclared allergen on the product’s packaging. Those with a nut allergy could experience an allergic reaction as severe as anaphylaxis after eating the recalled bread—seek medical attention if you are experiencing symptoms like hives, nausea or vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, tightness of the throat or cardiac arrest.

For questions about this recall, contact Hartford Bakery at 1-812-425-4642 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. 3 p.m. CST.
