On July 2, Mumbai witnessed a poignant gathering as loved ones, colleagues, and fans came together for a prayer meeting in memory of Shefali Jariwala. The actor, best known for her appearance in the iconic Kaanta Laga music video, passed away suddenly on June 27, leaving behind a wave of shock and sorrow.

Parag Tyagi consoles Shefali Jariwala's father

Among the deeply moving scenes from the memorial, a widely shared video stood out. The footage shows Shefali’s father overcome with emotion, sobbing uncontrollably beside her husband, Parag Tyagi. Though visibly shaken, Parag offered silent comfort to his father-in-law, embodying the profound loss they both now carry. A portrait of Shefali, lovingly decorated with flowers, was placed behind them, a tender tribute to a life taken too soon.

The invitation card for the prayer meet read: “Some stars shine too brightly to ever fade — even after they’re gone, their light remains.” This message, circulating along with the video, has deeply resonated with her fans online.

A Friend Remembers Her Final Hours

In a conversation with journalist Vickey Lalwani, actor Pooja Ghai recalled the tragic last hours of Shefali’s life. “Her eyes weren’t opening and there was a heaviness in her body,” Pooja shared. “Parag must’ve sensed something was very wrong and rushed her to the hospital… but she was already gone before reaching Bellevue.”

Shefali was taken to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital on June 27 and declared brought dead. The suddenness of the event has shocked those who knew her well. While initial signs point to a cardiac arrest, a post-mortem is underway to determine the exact cause of death.

Final Farewell: Last Rites and Beyond

In the days following her passing, videos from Shefali’s final rites at Oshiwara crematorium and the asthi visarjan have surfaced on social media. One especially heartbreaking clip shows Parag Tyagi holding her ashes and walking towards the sea, attempting to stay composed in the face of irreparable loss.

While the entertainment industry mourns one of its brightest talents, Shefali Jariwala’s memory lives on—not just through her work, but through the love she inspired in those around her. Her untimely demise is a reminder of life’s fragility and the enduring imprint of those who leave us too soon.
