New Delhi: Shefali Jariwala’s sudden demise has shaken the entertainment industry. The Kaanta Laga star was taken to Mumbai’s Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital on Friday night (June 27), where she was declared dead on arrival. Although cardiac arrest has been speculated as the cause, no official statement has yet been issued by her family or representatives.

Shefali rose to instant fame with the iconic 2002 music video Kaanta Laga, which became a pop-culture phenomenon in India. The track became a sensation amongst the 90s kids and was crooned by DJ Doll. The director of the music video, Vinay Sapru, reacted to the sudden demise of the actress, expressing his grief and condolences.

In an exclusive interview with News9Live, Vinay said, “It’s absolutely shocking and deeply saddening. Shefali was such a lovely person. When we worked together, we had an amazing time. She brought so much positivity and energy to the set. She was genuinely looking forward to new projects, full of excitement for what was ahead.”

He further added, “For something like this to happen at such a young age is truly heartbreaking. We will miss her terribly. I just pray that her soul rests in peace and that God gives her family the strength to get through this unimaginable loss.”

Shefali Jariwala went on to appear in several other music videos, including Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar by DJ Doll. She showcased her dancing skills on reality shows like Boogie Woogie (2008), Nach Baliye 5, and Nach Baliye 7, where she competed alongside her husband, Parag Tyagi.

She regained national attention with her appearance on Bigg Boss 13, hosted by Salman Khan. In 2024, she made her fiction television debut with the show Shaitani Rasmein. She also had a brief role in the 2004 Salman Khan-starrer Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, and later appeared in films such as Huduguru, Baby Come Naa, and Ratri Ke Yatri.
