New Delhi: Brentford rejected Manchester United’s second bid for Cameroon international Bryan Mbeumo. According to The Athletic, the improved bid was worth £62.5m, which is the same figure the Red Devils paid for Matheus Cunha.

Ruben Amorim’s side had already seen a bid worth £55m rejected. Talks between the two clubs are continuing with Mbeumo wanting to join the Red Devils ahead of the 2025/26 season. The forward netted 20 goals and notched up seven assists in the Premier League last season and helped Brentford to secure a top-half finish.

Mbeumo informs Brentford, Tottenham of decision to join Manchester United

The forward has informed Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur about his decision to join Manchester United if he makes a transfer this summer. He is under contract with the Bees until June 2026 and also has an option to extend the deal by a further one more year.

Apart from United, he also attracted interest from other Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Newcastle United and Spurs. According to The Athletic, the forward only wants to join the Red Devils.

Ruben Amorim-side made an opening offer of worth £45million plus £10m in add-ons, and the second offer of £55m and £7.5m of bonuses was also rejected by the club, but talks continue between both sides to find a solution.

After Thomas Franch moved to Spurs, Mbeumo’s admiration has increased at the North London club, but they have denied making a bid for the forward. The Red Devils have targeted Mbeumo after signing Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £62.5m.

He joined Brentford from French side Troyes in 2019, when the English club was still in the Championship and helped them to earn promotion in 2021 by scoring 70 goals in 242 appearances.

Manchester United’s players will return to Carrington on July 7 after their summer break. The club finished 15th in the Premier League table last season and will look to improve their performance in the upcoming season.
