Vishnu Manchu’s long-in-the-making mythological fantasy epic 'Kannappa' finally hits the big screens today, June 27. The pan-India release has generated substantial buzz, not only for its high-profile cast but also for the producer-actor’s strategic decision to delay any streaming platform release.

No Rush to OTT: Vishnu Focuses on Theatrical Experience

At a pre-release event, Vishnu Manchu addressed the swirling speculation about the film’s digital premiere. Putting all rumours to rest, he confirmed that 'Kannappa' will not be heading to OTT platforms anytime soon. “I have a very large freedom; my movie will not come to OTT before 10 weeks. That is the deal I have, and by God’s grace, I don’t have any release pressure. My only intention is to showcase the best to the audience,” he said, as quoted by India Today.

This strategic delay aims to ensure that the film enjoys a longer run in cinemas, catering to audiences who prefer the grandeur of mythological narratives on the big screen.

Andhra Pradesh Approves ₹50 Ticket Price Hike

In a further boost for the film’s theatrical prospects, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has approved a ₹50 increase in standard ticket rates for Kannappa. An official government order confirming the hike has circulated online, underlining the movie’s status as a marquee release in the state.

A Devotional Spectacle with a Star-Studded Lineup

Kannappa brings to life the legendary tale of a passionate devotee of Lord Shiva, with Vishnu Manchu portraying the titular role. The film boasts a dazzling ensemble of stars, including Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, and Madhoo in pivotal roles. Special appearances by top-tier actors have only raised audience expectations — Akshay Kumar plays Lord Shiva, Mohanlal appears as Kirata, Prabhas features as Rudra, and Kajal Aggarwal as Goddess Parvati.

The film has been released in five languages, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, to ensure wide accessibility and resonance across India. Early screenings held for select members of the press have received encouraging responses, with praise directed at the film’s emotional depth and visual scale.

As Kannappa embarks on its theatrical journey, all eyes are on how audiences will embrace this mythological epic on the silver screen — exactly where its makers believe it belongs.
