Team India’s explosive batter Rinku Singh seems to be scaling new heights both on and off the field. After recently getting engaged to Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj, Rinku has now received a government appointment from the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government.

The cricketer has been named Basic Education Officer (BSA) under direct recruitment rules.

This surprising development has raised eyebrows, especially as Rinku's formal education ended in Class 9. Let’s take a closer look at what a Basic Education Officer does — and how Rinku Singh fits into the role.

What Does Basic Education Officer Do?

The Basic Education Officer is responsible for overseeing primary and upper primary government schools in a district.

This includes managing staff, ensuring smooth functioning of educational programs, and inspecting schools to maintain quality standards. Essentially, the BSA plays a critical role in shaping grassroots education in the state.

Rinku Singh, who has been appointed under special provisions, will now contribute to the educational system alongside his cricketing career.

Despite his stardom, Rinku’s journey has been full of struggles. Coming from a modest background, Rinku had to abandon his studies after Class 9 due to financial hardships. His father delivered gas cylinders for a living, and Rinku’s early life was marked by limited resources and opportunities.
