To remove toilet limescale, many people reach for harsh chemical cleaners, but these can be expensive to keep on buying and seemingly damaging to the environment. Thankfully, one natural household item could do a brilliant job at removing toilet limescale.
Even just one application could lead to "magical" results, say the cleaning experts at Keep Clean, a family-run cleaning service. But what's the item and can it prevent limescale from returning?
Revealed to be white vinegar, the cleaning cupboard staple has powerful descaling properties that are highly effective at removing stubborn toilet stains.
The cleaning experts explain that white vinegar "contains natural acids that dissolve limescale with minimal effort, making it a brilliant alternative to chemical toilet cleaners".
To use it, simply pour around one litre of white vinegar into the toilet bowl, ensuring it covers the limescale deposits, and leave it to sit for a minimum of three hours (but overnight is better) to help loosen the mineral deposits that cause limescale.
Then scrub away the toilet limescale with a toilet brush; the cleaning experts adds: "Then flush and see the magical results."
For tougher stains, adding baking soda can enhance the reaction and provide even better results.
