In the wake of a tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has implemented significant measures. The regulatory body has ordered the termination of three Air India employees due to negligence in safety protocols. This decision comes shortly after the incident, which resulted in the loss of nearly 270 lives, including crew members, passengers, and individuals on the ground.
On June 21, the DGCA instructed Air India to promptly dismiss the three employees responsible for the recent safety oversights. Following the Ahmedabad crash, the DGCA has been conducting a thorough investigation, revealing that the negligence of certain staff members adversely affected safety systems. This action aims to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Just a day before the DGCA's decision, Air India's CEO and Managing Director, Campbell Wilson, reassured passengers and staff about the safety of the airline's fleet. He stated that all Boeing 787 aircraft underwent comprehensive inspections as per DGCA directives, meeting all necessary standards. Wilson emphasized that additional checks would be conducted on all aircraft before flights, and any plane with doubts regarding its safety would not be cleared for takeoff.
