New Delhi: A massive chaos erupted in a Delhi Metro after a snake was rumoured to be found inside a ladies' coach on Friday. Women inside the coach started screaming and jumping on seats following a rumour about snake inside the compartment. One of the commuters recorded a video of the commotion inside the coach and soon it went viral on social media.

However, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) clarified that it was a baby lizard inside the coach. In the video, it could be seen that the commotion was triggered after the snake rumour spread inside the coach. Notably, the snake was not seen in the viral video. Panic gripped the women commuters as they believed that the reptile was present inside the compartment.

DMRC's Statement:

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) issued a statement over the incident. As per the DMRC, the train was vacated at the Akshardham Metro station and sent to the depot for thorough inspection.

"A viral video is in circulation regarding a snake spotted in a ladies coach. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) took immediate action upon receiving the alert on Thursday evening," the DMRC said in a statement.

"Despite a meticulous check of the train footage and coach at the depot by the concerned team, no snake was found. However, a baby lizard was spotted during the inspection," It added.

The DMRC urged commuters to remain vigilant and report any such concerns to our staff for prompt action.

However, some netizens believed it to be a case of mistaken identity. A woman, who claimed to be inside the coach said that first one of the women said that it was a lizard, but someone spread a rumour that it was a snake.
