Heartfelt Condolences from Odisha's Chief Minister
Bhubaneswar: Odisha's Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, expressed his sorrow over the passing of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who tragically lost his life in an Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad.
Air India confirmed that the flight, which was headed to London, met with disaster shortly after departing from Ahmedabad airport, resulting in the loss of all 241 individuals on board.
On social media platform X, Majhi stated, “Deeply pained by the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad that claimed the life of former Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Vijay Rupani ji.”
The ill-fated Boeing 787-8 was carrying 230 passengers along with 12 crew members.
Majhi further remarked, “Our party has lost a senior leader, and the nation mourns for a statesman whose gentle nature and contributions to public life will always be remembered.”
Rupani, who served as chief minister from August 2016 until September 2021, was recognized for his calm demeanor and effective governance during challenging times.
Majhi concluded with a prayer, stating, “May Mahaprabhu Jagannath provide strength to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Om Shanti.”
Rupani was 68 years old and played a pivotal role in guiding Gujarat through the recovery phase following the COVID-19 pandemic.
