Thug Life starring Kamal Haasan was released on Thursday. The Mani Ratnam's directorial is a Tamil film, but has been dubbed and released in multiple languages including Hindi. The film was expected to take a good start at the box office in its original language and that has clearly happened. However, in Hindi, the movie has taken disastrous opening.

The film on its day 1 collected Rs. 17 crore (all langauges). The original Tamil movie minted Rs. 15.4 crore, the Telugu dubbed version collected Rs. 1.50 crore, and the Hindi version just collected Rs. 10 lakh.https://www.youtube.com/embed/LQwCO1CgYk8

Haasan's previous film Indian 2 was also released in Hindi, and it had taken a better opening than Thug Life. The Hindi dubbed version of Shankar's directorial had collected Rs. 1.20 crore at the box office on day 1.

The makers of Thug Life had promoted the film's Hindi version very well, but it looks like the Hindi audience opted not to watch Thug Life, and maybe save their money for Housefull 5.
