It has been a long time since Azzedine Ounahi’s breakout tournament at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The midfielder, who made the move from SCO Angers to Olympique de Marseille in the wake of that winter World Cup, has struggled for form since and spent last season out on loan in Greece. However, Brighton and Hove Albion, a long-term admirer of the Morocco international, retain their interest and may make their move this summer, according to Market football.

Ounahi spent last season at Panathinaikos, where he got his career back on track, making 37 appearances and being elected fans’ player of the season. However, they are unable to afford the €11.5m purchase option included in the loan deal. He will therefore return to Marseille, where he does not have a future under Roberto De Zerbi.

The Italian’s former club, Brighton, are in talks with the player’s entourage. Ounahi is keen for a move to the Premier League and has already verbally agreed to join the Seagulls. The Premier League club must also find an agreement with OM.
