King of the Hill star Jonathan Joss has died at the age of 59 after being shot, according to reports. The actor is best known for voicing the character of John Redcorn in the memorable cartoon - which ran for 13 seasons between 1997 and 2009. He also appeared as Chief Ken Hotate in the US sitcome Parks and Recreation.

It has been reported that he was shot dead by an unnamed neighbour in San Antonio, Texas on Sunday night (June 1) following a "heated argument". According to , the pair began arguing at a house on the south side of the city when things took an unexpected turn. Police in San Antonio later confirmed that authorities were dispatched to a shooting in progress at around 7 p.m. When they arrived, they found Joss lying "near the roadway." Paramedics attempted "life saving measures" while waiting for EMS, but Joss was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers quickly found and detained a suspect, 56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Cejam, who had fled the scene in a vehicle. He has now been booked for murder, and the investigation is still ongoing.

Joss was best known for his voice role as John Redcorn in King of the Hill, which aired in the late '90s and early 2000s.

He took over the role from the original actor, Victor Arron, in season 3 after Arron tragically died in a car accident in 1996.

Joss's portrayal of Redcorn earned him a loyal fan following, and the character became one of the most beloved in the show's long run.

The actor was also set to return to the King of the Hill franchise with the newly announced revival, which is scheduled to premiere on Hulu in August. Production on the reboot had already begun before his tragic death.
