The latest series of Clarkson's Farm on Prime Video shows the ever-enterprising Jeremy Clarkson mulling over the prospect of launching a public house.
Aiming to siphon off some foot traffic from his bustling Diddly Squat farm shop, he is on the lookout for a tavern away from the fray.
Accompanied by Lisa Hogan, his partner, Clarkson toured various pubs, eyeing an ideal venue to tie in with their plans.
Their quest led them to the Coach and Horses, with its history of fleeting ownership, where they were taken by its charming exterior, a five-bedroom abode, spacious garden, and an antique stone barn ripe for conversion into a farm shop or butchers.
But the reality inside left much to be desired, as Lisa discovered when greeted with the sight of grimy fridge freezers, creeping bugs, and forsaken food pots. Lisa ventured upstairs inquiring hopefully, "Does upstairs get better?" With Jeremy confidentially confiding to the camera crew, "She's not going to be very pleased when she sees what's up there."
Lisa's dismay was audible, meeting them with an "Oh my god," prompting Jeremy's amused response as he came upstairs: "The carpets have seen better days, I will admit."
He wittily cautioned against leisurely standing, astonished by the sticky carpets, "Don't stand still too long, because you will stick to the floor," all captured on film for viewers at home.
They stumbled upon an ancient freezer, and Lisa could not contain her revulsion as the odour struck them. "That is bad!" she declared.
Despite the pub and its surrounding land being up for grabs at a steal, Jeremy faced insurmountable challenges.
Eager viewers are aware that Jeremy eventually secured his ideal public house, now the owner of The Farmer's Dog in Asthall, near Burford, Oxfordshire.
The establishment commenced business in August 2024 and sprawls over five acres.
Patrons can enjoy lunch and dinner services, alongside a weekend carvery, with 'The Farmer's Puppy Kitchen' catering to al fresco diners.
