Telangana Fire Services, Hyderabad fire rescue, Gulzar Houz fire, short circuit fire, fire department investigation Hyderabad The devastating fire in Hyderabad’s Old City near Charminar, which killed 17 members of a single family, was caused by a short circuit, according to the fire department’s preliminary investigation. According to Y. Nagi Reddy, Director General, Telangana Fire Disaster Response Emergency and Civil Defence, smoke inhalation was the cause of death for everyone, and no one was burned.

The residential building in Gulzar Houz and the ground-plus-two-story structure housing Houzs Sri Krishna Pearls store were the sites of the fire.

The first investigation revealed that a short circuit was the fire’s origin, according to the Telangana fire and disaster response services.

According to Nagi Reddy, the Fire Department had difficulties in rescuing the stranded individuals. He said that there was only one stairway, less than a meter wide, that led to the higher stories and was located in the middle of the structure. The stairs are completely covered with smoke and intense heat since this staircase is dangerously near to the expected fire source. In addition, there isn’t another staircase or way out to reach the higher stories. Bicycles totally block the ground floor entry, which not only blocks the escape but also adds gasoline to the fire.

Since the fire began on the bottom level, smoke and heat swiftly spread to the top stories, obstructing the only way to access the upper floors, according to the DG’s statement. Additionally, there were no doors or windows facing the road that provided rapid ventilation and a hydraulic platform.

According to Nagi Reddy, “the firefighters had to drill a hole in a wall on the first floor to enter and start rescuing and firefighting operations on the first floor while firefighting was going on on the ground floor in order to save time and to rescue trapped persons quickly.”

“The Fire Department’s prompt response and action prevented the fire from spreading to nearby properties, preventing additional loss of life and property,” the DG said.

Twelve appliances in all arrived at the fire scene and took part in the rescue and firefighting efforts, according to the Fire Department.

In order to put out the fire and rescue the people who were trapped, a total of 70 individuals, 17 fire officers, one firefighting robot, and 11 vehicles were used.

It should be mentioned that the operations also made use of the Bronto Sky Lift Hydraulic Platform and the Advanced Fire Robot.
