Video: A shocking incident has come to light in Mumbai's Bhandup area, in which a couple misbehaved with a pizza delivery boy just because he could not speak Marathi. This incident happened on Monday night, May 12 and now its video is becoming increasingly viral on social media.
When Rohit Lavare, a Domino's Pizza delivery agent, reached a residential building with an order, the couple refused to pay him for not speaking Marathi. Lavare recorded the entire incident on his mobile phone. In the video, the customer can be clearly heard saying, "Speak in Marathi, otherwise you won't get the money."
Video of the incident surfaced
When Rohit asked, "Why are you forcing me to speak Marathi?", the woman said, "This is how it works here." After this, Lavare said that if Marathi is mandatory here, you should not have ordered. The delivery boy further said, "Okay, if you don't want to pay, then don't." But this is not a rule.
During the conversation, the woman asked Lavare not to make a video of her, while she herself started recording a video of the delivery boy. Lavare asked in response, "What kind of rule is this, you can make one and I cannot?"
During the incident, the man accompanying the woman tried to close the door, but the woman intervened and turned on the camera. Lavare said that if there is any fault in the order, then show it, otherwise there is no reason to refuse to pay the money.
Growing controversy over language
This incident has become another example of the growing sensitivity towards Hindi and Marathi language in Mumbai. Earlier in April, workers of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in Lonavala had beaten up a bank employee just because he was not communicating in Marathi.
