Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) have made a final moment change in their squad, as on May 7, they have announced the player who is going to replace Harry Brook for the remainder of the 2025 season of the tournament.
In a statement, the IPL mentioned that Delhi Capitals have signed Afghanistan batter Sediqullah Atal as the replacement for England’s Harry Brook, who had to opt out of the tournament due to personal reasons.
The statement also mentioned that Sediqullah Atal has played 49 T20 matches and has scored 1507 runs. He has represented also Afghanistan in all the three formats, and was taken in for his base price of Rs. 1.25 crore.
“Delhi Capitals (DC) have picked Sediqullah Atal as a replacement for Harry Brook for the remainder of TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. England batter Harry Brook opted out of TATA IPL 2025 due to personal reasons. Sediqullah Atal from Afghanistan has scored 1507 T20 runs in 49 matches. The left-handed batter made his T20I Debut in 2023 and has represented Afghanistan in all three formats. He will now join DC for his base price of INR 1.25 Crore,” the IPL’s statement read.
It is to be noted that Brook has to withdraw from the IPL for the second consecutive year because of personal reasons.
DC had taken in Harry for a great amount of Rs. 6.25 crore in the mega auction, and now after his withdrawal, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) even gave him a ban that restricts him for participating in the IPL for the next two years.
Speaking about DC in the ongoing tournament, they are currently in the race for playoffs for this season. The franchise is currently at the fifth position in the points table as they have 6 victories (12 points) out of 11 matches they have played so far. Delhi Capitals have their next clash against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 8.
