star Jennifer Aniston's security team reportedly held a man at gunpoint after he smashed through the gates of her mansion while the star was home. The incident happened shortly after 12pm on Monday, when the man, believed to be in his 70s, crashed his car into the $21million Bel Air pad spurring her security team into action.
TMZ reported the stars security team rushed to the vehicle, pulled the driver out, and detained him at gunpoint until LAPD officers arrived on the scene. LAPD spokesperson Officer Jeff Lee , confirmed: "The incident occurred at approximately 12:20PM PT" and officers were responding to a call about a "burglary suspect" who "ran his vehicle through the gate to the residence. The resident was home at the time," he confirmed. He also said Jennifer, 56, had not come into contact with the suspect and was not harmed in the dramatic scenes.
The driver was examined by first responders following the crash, as he complained of pain with saying he suffered back injuries and was taken to hospital.
LA news channel subsequently stated there was noticeable damage to the front gate of the residence, with the retractable arm broken off behind the gate.
Meanwhile KABC reported the man will be booked for felony vandalism for the damage caused
However, the investigation into the incident is ongoing, as officials looking into the suspect's background and criminal history.
Nothing has been revealed as yet to indicates he was targeting The Morning Show actress.
A public information officer for the LAPD said further details would be available later tonight or possibly tomorrow.
The 8,500 square-foot property was purchased for just under $21 million in the early 2010s.
It sits on a 3.4 acre lot, according to property records.
