The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are having a disappointing as they are at the bottom of the points table for a long time now for the first time in the league's history. Not only have they failed to qualify for the playoffs, but it also looks like they will finish the season with at 10th or 9th place. They haven't gotten the kind of players they might have wanted to be in the team. The auction was the one where the management failed to pick up the right players.
Hence, the team is struggling to win even a single game after the one that came against the Lucknow Super Giants on April 14. For the next season, the Super Kings will look for some talented players who can win them matches in crunch situations. Even though the mega auction is over, CSK will try to grab some steal deals in the upcoming mini auction. In this article, we will discuss the three worst buys of CSK this season.
Here are three flop signings for CSK in IPL 2025: 3. Ravichandran AshwinCSK spent INR 9.75 crore on veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin during the mega auction 2024. The management had a lot of hopes from the player, but they were crushed as he failed to perform well in the ongoing IPL season. In seven matches, he has claimed five wickets, at an average of 44.60.
After spending a hefty amount on the player, his poor performance did hurt the Super Kings. Even though they might release him on the next occasion, buying another player in a mini-auction is not a simple task. Ashwin struggled in the powerplays and couldn't make use of the spinner-friendly track in Chennai. Hence, he was one of the flops for the Super Kings.

2. Rahul TripathiRahul Tripathi was clearly a wrong move made by the Super Kings during the mega auction. Despite getting a chance to open and play in the top order, Tripathi failed to perform well in all the matches. In five matches, the cricketer scored 55 runs at an average of 11. He played alongside Rachin Ravindra in the first few matches before being dropped.
After that, he replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad at the No. 3 position, which didn’t work at all. Moreover, if we look at the stats, for a top-order batter, these are extremely disappointing. The management should look for a better opener or No. 3 batter, preferably a youngster who can provide strong starts in the powerplays.

1. Deepak HoodaDeepak Hooda will remain at the top of the list for his poor performance in the ongoing IPL. The batter hasn't contributed to the team in the middle overs. Moreover, he has played five innings and scored just 31 runs at an average of 6.20. The 30-year-old batter has failed to justify his role in the tournament, which was a huge loss to the team.

Previously, he played for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), where he could not get going either. The management might look beyond Hooda next season. The youngsters would be the most preferable choice at this point for CSK.
