Malpractice fans have been pointing out a "plot hole" as the drama returns for its second series.

Following its success in 2023, Malpractice has been brought back for season two, turning the medical drama into an anthology series as it delves into a new investigation.

This time around, the focus is on psychologist Dr James Ford (played by Tom Hughes), who is clearly under a lot of pressure from the very beginning.

Working at an overstretched NHS hospital, James is asked to attend the sectioning of a pregnant woman, but at the same time, is called to evaluate Rosie (Hannah McClean) who's just had a baby.

Trying his best to deal with both situations, James sees Rosie and asks her the necessary questions and tells another doctor to prescribe her a sedative she can take at home, before rushing off to the next call.

It is then in the early hours of the morning that James receives a distressing phone call from the hospital, telling him that Rosie is present and out of control, attacking staff and police.

When James arrives, Rosie is in hand and feet restraints with a mask over her face as she had bitten an officer.

He discovers that she attempted to drown her baby, thus why she was there in the first place.

After speaking with her and realising that she has not yet calmed down, the doctor approves her being transferred to somewhere more secure.

However, in the next scene, Rosie is being transported not by police but by a single doctor as the patient wears no restraints.

Rosie then lashes out again, headbutting the doctor and runs off and much to James' shock, she jumps off a building.

It is later explained that Rosie was under sedated, with everyone involved believing she had taken her prescribed medication - which she hadn't.

But fans couldn't help but point out this "plot hole", taking to X, formerly Twitter, to point out: "She's been freaking out so they transport her, unrestrained via one person?"

Another said: "Well that was obviously going to happen! Just one member of staff with her."

A third also queried: "Why was only one woman transferring her considering how's she's been acting."

A fellow user said: "She was heavily restrained but then when she's in wheelchair she's free to run away."

Fans were also left emotional by the tragic incident, with numerous viewers labelling it as "heartbreaking".

One X user remarked: "No one should ever have to go through this hell. It's heartbreaking."
