Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a big step towards promoting education as well as sports. Now sports will be given equal importance along with studies in government schools. For the first time, the government has approved a budget of Rs 134 crore to develop more than 1.34 lakh primary, upper primary and secondary schools in the state from the point of view of sports. The objective of this initiative is to identify sports talents hidden in villages and towns and reach them to the national and international platform.

Every school will get a separate budget

Under the budget, Rs 5 thousand will be given to primary schools, Rs 10,000 to Junior High School and Kasturba Gandhi Girls School (KGBV) and 25 thousand rupees to senior secondary schools for the purchase of sports material. 43 crore will be received for 86,764 primary schools.

At the same time, 45,245 will get Rs 45 crore for upper primary schools and KGBV, more than Rs 5 crore for more than 2,000 senior secondary schools. Apart from this, 'Ek KGBV, Ek Khel' scheme has been approved Rs 19.41 crore, Rs 14.92 crore for open gym and sports materials and Rs 5.33 crore for national training camps.

Training will be available on Sai model

According to the government's plan, now selected players from schools will not be sent directly to national competitions. Instead, he will be trained in the first 10 -day divisional level camps. These camps will be organized on the lines of Sports Authority of India (SAI). Special training will be given to players in the under-14, under-17 and under-19 age group in these camps.

Appointment of physical teachers started in schools

Physical teachers have already been deployed in upper primary schools with more than 100 enrollment of the state. With this, children will start getting systematic and regular sports training.

Big step towards complete development of children

Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh described this scheme as a revolutionary initiative towards the entire development of children. He said, “Games develop confidence, discipline and leadership ability in children.” At the same time, Deepak Kumar, President and Additional Chief Secretary of the School Games Federation of India said that high level facilities and training will be provided to the players under the Federation guidelines.
