Obnews Automobile Desk: The Indian Army has further increased its strength and has included the state -of -the -art armored vehicles in the country in the fleet. The Ministry of Defense has signed an agreement of ₹ 1,056 crore with Mahindra Defense Systems, under which the army will get 1,300 'Armored Light Specialist Vehicle' (ALSV) in the next four years. This agreement is an important step towards promoting indigenous defense production under the 'Make in India' campaign.

The Mahindra ALSV has received ballistic security up to B7 level and is equipped with a 3.2-liter multi-fuel diesel engine, which produces 215hp power and 500Nm torque. Its speed is more than 120 km per hour and it can catch a speed of 0 to 60 km/h in just 12 seconds. This vehicle is capable of carrying the medium machine gun, automatic grenade launcher and anti-tank guided missiles. It also performs well in bumpy areas due to 4 × 4 drive system, high travel all-wheel suspension and run-flat tires.

Kalyani M4: Safe transport of soldiers at height

Kalyani M4, which is designed in association with the South African 'Paramount Group', is designed to take troops safely in inaccessible areas of height. The M4, which comes under this emergency order of ₹ 177.95 crore, has a powerful engine of 465hp, which gives 1627Nm torque. Its speed goes up to 140 km/h and can travel up to 800 km once fuel is filled.

Tata APC 4 × 4: Special Security and Quick Response

APC 4 × 4 of Tata Advanced Systems is proving revolutionary for the Indian Army and paramilitary forces. This vehicle provides highest protection to soldiers with 14 kg and 21 kg blast protection capacity. It has a seating arrangement of 14 soldiers and has been included in the service after extensive trials under challenging circumstances.

Caspir: Army's strong armor in dangerous areas

Caspir vehicles developed in South Africa have now become an integral part of the Indian Army. Caspir is being used for safe transport and riot control to soldiers in terror -affected areas like Kashmir.
