Window is a must, but it's important to remember that window dressings need attention too, particularly blinds. Vertical blinds are most common in , however, they attract an astounding amount of dust in such a short amount of time.

Dusty blinds don't just look tired - they can also impact air quality, especially affecting those with allergies. Regular cleaning helps maintain functionality, prevents issues like discolouration and material damage, and reduces allergens, allowing you to enjoy your blinds for longer. To clean them fast and avoid dust buildup for as long as possible, blinds experts have shared what to use on them.

According to the pros at English Blinds, anything that produces an "anti-static effect" will "repel dust on blinds" and prevent the speed at which it builds up on the blind in future.

Whether you have wooden or Venetian blinds, a light dusting with a cloth or a feather duster is usually sufficient to clear away any dust in sight. However, there is something you can use that's better.

The experts recommend using a tumble dryer sheet to ward off the dust. They instructed: "Use a tumble dryer sheet to wipe over the slats of blinds; these are foolproof and will remove dust and produce an anti-static effect to help repel dust for months."

Experts at Americal Blinds also recommmend using a tumble dryer sheet. They said: "For wood, faux wood, mini and PVC blinds, we recommend you spend five minutes using dryer sheets to reduce static cling and help repel dust."

For a deeper cleaning, they suggested wearing an old pair of fabric gloves and running your fingers along the slats.

You may also dip the gloved finger in warm, slightly soapy water and run your fingers along the slats. However, never place water on wood blinds.

Aside from cleaning, opening and closing your blinds regularly will help to ensure that dust doesn't really get the chance to build up in the first place, and reduces the frequency at which you need to dust them.

However, you do still need to dust your wooden blinds occasionally, nonetheless, and you can wipe them over with a damp cloth now and then too.

Whatever you use to dust the blind with, it should be anti-static - some cleaning cloths and dusters will specify this.
